I am  thrilled to write about Elisa Donovan’s endorsement of the non-profit group Web Wise Kids.  First, Web Wise Kids is a superb group of people that for more than 10 years has developed games to teach children about Internet safety.  The group focuses on educating youth about cyber security, cyber bullying and safe cell phone use.   Elisa Donovan who has been working with teenagers and youth since the early days of her Hollywood career, has joined forces with WWK to help spread the word about its causes and to help the group raise funds through encourage more corporate sponsorship and consumer donation and participation.

So what’s so cool about this?  Here’s a secret – Elisa and I grew up together.  I have been personally honored to know Elisa since elementary school.  We also did HS theatre together – though obviously she was the more talented and driven actor as she went on to star as Amber in the 1995 movie ‘Clueless’ and then continued as Amber in the TV series, a spin-off based on the film (that’s Elisa as Amber on the left in the yellow).  More recently though, you can totally enjoy watching Elisa as Gayle in ‘In Gayle We Trust,’  a web series by NBC which debuted in September 2009 and is now in its second season.  Elisa is Gayle – she carries the entire show and is terrific.    There really is so much more to learn about Elisa, but really what is so cool is that for years she has been using her celebrity as a platform to help positively influence today’s youth.  ”

“For years I have been talking to teenagers about personal health issues driven by peer pressure, self esteem, and bullying,” says Elisa  Donovan.  “Web Wise Kids, an organization that focuses on educating kids about online safety, provides another opportunity for me to
help encourage kids in a positive way.”

Web Wise Kids is fortunate to have Elisa as a spokesperson for the group and wants to continue to do what it does to help educate today’s  youth about online safety.
