DataBank’s CEO Predicts the “Edge” Will Emerge in Growing Secondary Markets First

DataBank CEO, Raul Martynek, describes the company’s strategy, talks about hybrid cloud and edge hosting trends and makes some 5G predictions in this edition of JSA TV from PTC ’19.

Martynek says the DataBank thesis is based on the fact that there was inventory in Tier 1 markets, but much less high-quality inventory in secondary markets.  The resulting strategy included entering markets like Salt Lake City, Pittsburgh, Baltimore, Kansas City, Indianapolis and Atlanta. He says the prevalence of the “edge” concept will emerge first in these secondary markets. This concept brings users closer to where the content is stored, increasing quality of service and reducing latency.
