Dark fiber provider, Crosslake Fibre Inc. just announced their newest fiber project, a submarine cable CLF Network Mapbuild linking Toronto to Buffalo. The project is the first submarine cable system across Lake Ontario connecting through Toronto into the U.S. The network will land northwest of Lockport, NY, on the U.S. side and on the Canadian side will be close to downtown Toronto.

This 144 fiber count cable will be attractive to telcos, service providers, and enterprises that want dark fiber, managed services along with physically diverse routes and a more direct link than available currently. In addition, the cable system will be a strategic choice for financial firms that require ultra low latency services.

“We are excited to announce this project publicly as it’s a very unique build,” states Mike Cunningham, Chief Executive Officer of Crosslake Fibre. “The cable system will help fuel the massive and growing demands for wholesale bandwidth and cloud connectivity in the Greater Toronto Area and the Buffalo Niagara Region.”

As independent operator, Crosslake Fibre will own and operate the cable system. The targeted ready-for-service (RFS) date for the cable system is September 2018.
